To strengthen the capacity of common people at the community level to handle conflict in nonviolent ways, bringing change in their lives through the tools of mobilization and advocacy and meaningful participation on political processes leading to sustainable peace.
The South Asia Women and Youth Peace and Democracy Alliance is a newly established peace network, which works in the South Asian region to promote peace through nonviolent action and democracy through bottom-up community mobilization. It has its Core Group organizations in Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh. SAWYPDA’s member organizations aim to promote sustainable peace through the philosophy and practice of nonviolence and liberal democracy by addressing structural and other forms of violence and power distribution that affects a large number of marginalized people across the region.
